The raid has not only attracted outrage from Migori residents but also from a section of politicians, lawyers and activists. The raid conducted by the EACC officials was an unplanned one with the governor and his aides being caught unawares.

The EACC detectives turned inside out the office of the county chief and carted away several documents they believed would help them to nail the governor with regards to corruption allegations that also face him.

Security officers deployed at the home watched from a distance as EACC team took charge of the palatial home for several hours.

Only officers from the EACC were allowed into Obado’s Rapogi home which the governor moved from immediately he returned to Migori from Industrial Area Remand Prison where he had been remanded.

Details have also emerged of how the detectives visited Obado’s local church just to inquire how much the governor contributed as offering.

According to Family spokesman Samuel Otewa, who is Obado’s uncle, Officers who raided his Rapogi home went to a local SDA Church where they worship to ask pastors about Obado’s contributions.

“Officers who raided his Rapogi home went to a local SDA Church where we worship to ask pastors how much our son has been contributing in the Church,” Otewa said.

Governor Okoth Obado is a christian who actually believe’s in Prayers. According to him Prayers work and it is because of this reason that he even asked Kenyans to pray for him so that he doesn’t get swallowed by the “crocodile”

He asked Christians across the country to pray for him, saying he felt as if he is walking through a fire.

He further said it is as if he was thrown inside a crocodile’s mouth.

“If you pray for me, I will get out of the crocodile’s mouth,” said Obado.

His crocodile remarks have however put in into more trouble with many leaders allied to Raila Odinga questioning his remarks.

Suna East MP and ODM Director of elections Junet Mohamed said Mr Obado was trying to subvert the case before him through politics.

“By saying that he has been thrown into a crocodile’s mouth, who is he referring to? The investigators? The prosecution?” wondered Mr Mohamed.

“He doesn’t look like someone who has a case before a court of law,” said Mr Mohamed.

Governor Obado is due to be back in court today for the hearing of is bail application after the police sought to have him detained for 15 days to enable them complete investigations.

The defence team led by Cliff Ombeta argued that the governor has cooperated with security agencies hence should be granted bail.
