Obado is not Goat! Migori Residents Beg Raila to Save Obado

Are the Migori residents right in demanding for the release of Obado?

Okoth Obado might be an embattled man but the kind of support the governor is getting from his family and largely from the people of Migori will surely go along way in lifting his spirit amidst this now not ending challenges.

Okoth Obado is a man known to have the spirit to encounter the various storms that have in the past tried to put him down. Do you remember that Obado is the only person that ascended to a governorship position in Nyanza without using the famous ODM party as his “political vehicle,”

After spending close to a month behind bars over the murder of university Student Sharon Otieno, the governor is again facing another battle with the law and this time it is because of  illegal guns found in his possession at his two homes.

According to reports, 3 out of the 8 guns found at the Migori governor’s residence were deemed to be illegal hence leading to his arrest.

The governor was yesterday presented in Court before chief magistrate Joyce Gandani at Kibera Law Courts to face charges after eight guns were found in his homes.

Chief magistrate Joyce Gandani said the bail ruling will be delivered on Friday (today). Police had sought 15 days to detain Obado for further investigations into the illegal gun possession case.

The defence team led by Cliff Ombeta argued that the governor has cooperated with security agencies hence should be granted bail.

Migori residents have now called up ODM Chief to save Obado from his troubles. The residents called on Raila to save Obado just like he did with Jimmy Wanjigi when illegal guns were found in his possession.

The residents have decried the manner in which their governor has been handled with many of them feeling that he has been belittled so much.

“We are requesting our Baba who is Raila Odinga, when Jimmy Wanjigi was found with illegal guns, he chipped in and he rescued Jimmy, so we are asking you Raila, can you chip in and rescue the votes of the people who voted for Obado,” said a Migori resident.

According to the Migori residents, the continuous frustration of their governor is costing them a lot. They now demand that their governor is released do that he can keep delivering the services he should deliver to his people.

“Allow our governor to deliver to us services, allow him to implement the agenda he promised,” said George Okoth, a resident from Migori.

The Migori residents added that they are not happy with the arrest of their governor.

“I am not happy with the arrest of our governor. Our governor was recently arrested, then before he has finished his case, he has been arrested again,” said Kennedy Otieno.

The Migori Governor is also accused by the anti-graft body of siphoning Ksh.2 billion from the county coffers through companies registered by his relatives. It is the graft allegations that actually led to a raid in his homes with the process leading to the EACC detectives recovering 8 guns from his two homes in Migori and Nairobi’s Lavington.
