How Incompetence from Gor Officials Led to Dylan Kerr’s Walk Out

The news that Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr parted ways with the Green Army was surely a big blow to the many Kogallo Fans that had fallen in love with the coach due to the great job he was doing at the club and his charismatic nature.

News that the coach did not have any written contract with the reigning Kenyan Premier League champions is surely going to add more salt to the wounds of the Kogallo fans.

Kerr has revealed that he had no written contract with Gor Mahia meaning that he could leave anytime he so wished. This clearly shows that the Gor Mahia management led by chairman Ambrose Rachier was not keen on tying down the manager at the club for long.

“I did a letter, but not a resignation one because I did not have a contract. I was not given any by the management, giving me the freedom to walk away.” said Dylan Kerr.

Kerr led Gor Mahia to its 17th  league title, two super Cup trophies as well as the group stages of the Caf Confederations Cup.

Kenyan Champions Gor Mahia are already in the hunt for a new coach. Among those in contention for the vacant position at Gor include former AFC Leopards head coach Luc Eymael.

Eymael coached Ingwe in 2013 before falling out with the club. .

It is also understood that Brazilian Roberto Oliveira is another top contender lined up as Kerr’s replacement. The 52-year-old, who is currently with Rwandan Premier League side, Rayon Sports, was in Nairobi when his current side beat Gor Mahia 2-1 in the Caf Confederations Cup group stage match last campaign.

Gor Mahia Chairman Ambrose Rachier yesterday confirmed to have recieved Kerr’s resignation letter with the Briton sighting his reasons for leaving as search for greener pastures.

“I have today received a resignation letter from coach Dylan Kerr. On behalf of the club, l accept the resignation because he has been good and candid enough. As per his letter, he is going for greener pastures and l want to wish him all the best,” Rachier exclusively told the official Gor Mahia website.

In his resignation letter dated 15th November 2018, Kerr clearly indicated that he will be taking another coaching role for the new season and thanked all the club officials.
