Embu County Leaders Scramble For Raila’s Pot of Wisdom

The season of handshakes is hear with us and it is hear to stay. Raila Amollo Odinga, seem to be a darling of many with leaders from his earlier hostile political regions now visiting him at his Capitol Hill office.

All these the ODM chief has said are as a result of the handshake that was initiated between him and President Uhuru Kenyatta. Today was the turn of leaders from Embu County led by former Cabinet Secretary Joe Nyagah who was a close political ally of Raila Odinga en route to the formation of the Orange Democratic Party. Joe Nyagah was even part of the ODM Pentagon back then.

The leaders from Embu County, according to Raila Odinga, paid him a courtesy call.

The meeting with the Embu leaders comes just hours after the now AU High Envoy for Infrastructure and Development met with Kirinyaga governor Anne Waiguru, a move that has elicited various reactions among Kenyans with the majority feeling that Raila has betrayed the war on corruption.

The two buried the hatchet and decided to forget the past. The two were previously embroiled in a court case in which the Kirinyaga County boss sued the former Prime Minister over utterances he made linking her to the loss of millions of shillings during the first National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

“Held a meeting with Governor  and agreed to “let by-gones be by-gones” and leave the matter of the NYS scandal in the hands of investigators. She said her case against me is now settled in the spirit of reconciliation that the nation has embarked on,” said Raila Odinga.

According to Waiguru, the matter between him and Raila Odinga stands settled “in the spirit of cohesion and reconciliation in the country.”

With the numerous visits from his once fierce political critics, do you think Raila Odinga is strategizing on a political move come 2022?
