A section of Migori country residents have shown excitement over the reinstating of the Michuki rules as today counts as Day 3 of the crackdown.
Although the main focus is on the capital of Kenya, Nairobi City, many have not really highlighted what is happening in other counties.
One man describes Migori County as the home of the ‘ Probox’ machines. You have all heard stories of how many people can fit in one Probox. Well not fit but squeeze..
Most people in that county are said to misuse that particular brand of car. It is spacious they say but they overdo it which poses a threat to the road safety of the passengers. Overloading being one of the reasons that leads to accidents.
The crackdown has been taken seriously in the county and some had earlier complained that the traffic police are being too extreme on how they are handling the culprits who are found on the wrong side of the law.
The Kenya traffic had noted a case where a passenger was handcuffed for not wearing a safety belt.
Migori needed the michuki rules more than Nairobi. That’s where a probox ferries twelve passengers even in the trunk. Add their luggage and you have a super extra loaded vehicle.

With the crack down, Migori residents hope that the new rules will get the PSV drivers back on track.
The ‘Probox’ situation will be unheard of with the Michuki rules in place. Not just in Migori County but in other region where this behavior is the daily bread.
Do you think the Michuki rules will change the transport landscape soon? share your thoughts.
