Is this the end of running court cases between Raila Odinga and Anne Waiguru?

The two made up after the former devolution cabinet secretary Anne Waiguru visited Capital Hill offices and two  henceforth buried the hatchet and decided to forget the past. They have previously embroiled in a court case in which the Kirinyaga County boss sued the former Prime Minister over utterances he made linking her to the loss of millions of shillings during the first National Youth Service (NYS) scandal.

All eyes are on the two now to see if Waiguru will drop the case against the former Prime Minister, the two having taken on each other after the NYS 1 in which Raila accused Waiguru as being the main culprit of the scandal that saw Kenya lose billions of dollars.

Kirinyaga Governor Anne Waiguru had in February requested the High Court to allow a case to proceed, saying that there has been no sufficient reason why the hearing should be suspended. Mr Odinga, through lawyer Paul Mwangi, had requested that the hearing be stopped until he files an appeal challenging a ruling issued last November.

“Throughout the course of this matter, Mr Odinga has made numerous attempts to delay the matter, including failing to comply with civil procedure rules and requesting adjournments on a number of occasions,” Ms Waiguru said in court papers.

Clearly this is a new beginning which is also an extension of the handshake spirit that was started by Raila Odinga himself and Prsident Uhuru Kenyatta earlier in the years following a grueling election period.

So will the case be dropped or will they leave it to take its course. Whatever the case, Waiguru has stated that the matter is closed and the case will no longer have the backing needed to make it a success. Whatever the case it is as good as dead!

Do you think it can hold?
