Nandi County Governor On the Spotlight For his Tremendous Love for Women

The Gender debate is something that has kind of divided the country in the middle with a number of Kenyans supporting the implementation of the 2/3 gender rule while others have opposed it arguing that women are subjected to almost the same conditions in Life hence they should fight for their rightful places in the society without having to go through short-cuts or getting favours.

Nandi County government see to have their own gender rule that looks to suppress the male generation while giving prominence to the Female ones.

The county government produced a list of shortlisted candidates who applied for the various positions in the county public service. To the shock of many in Nandi and across the country the list contained so many female candidates that most Nandi residents went ballistic on social media questioning how and why.

99% of those shortlisted are female candidates despite having male candidates who applied. The residents are blaming governor Sang’s administration for pinning down the aspirations and dreams of the ‘boy child.

Nandi County Governor has been on the receiving end lately for what is perceived to be ‘letting down the youth’ in the county. He has been widely accused on social media of being close to ladies and neglecting the ‘boy child’ especially after a debacle where he had wrongly sent a romantic message to a whatsapp group. The list with 99% Women has shocked the county with most residents reading something sinister in how the list was compiled.

Governor Sang join Majority Leader Aden Duale in championing for women after the Majority Leader yesterday proposed to increase the number of women in the national assembly. This could see numbers rise from the current 349 to 391. The majority leader has proposed an amendment to the Constitution to have more women nominated to the national assembly.

Those in the Senate could also increase but marginally to about 71 from the current 67 members that has 47 elected out of which three are women and 20 nominated- 16 women and four men.

The passage of the bill could see the country pay about Sh60 million in monthly salaries and other allowances to the nominated women Members of Parliament.

Mr Duale’s proposal is bound to raise opposition within Parliament and outside, in terms of the increasing public wage bill. But yesterday, Mr Duale was adamant that the law is a requirement  in the Constitution.

“We need this law in place not because Mr Duale or whoever wants it, but because the Constitution demands that Parliament enacts it within a time-frame, which has lapsed. So we have no otherwise but to abide,” Mr Duale said.

Do you think the County was right to lock out Male applicants ?
