Ronaldo is one of the 30 players on the shortlist for the annual award which is given to the world’s best player.
He will go head-to-head with Barcelona superstar and long-term rival Lionel Messi for the gong once again.
One of the pair has won every award since 2008, with Ronaldo claiming the last two in a row.
And Allegri is backing his player to make it three in succession.
“I’ve coached big players like Ronaldinho, Seedorf, Pirlo, Nesta, Buffon, and (the Brazilian) Ronaldo,” the former AC Milan chief said.
“And there are more. Champions are special. Ronaldo is so much focused on training and hard work, he is impressive.
“Ronaldo has improved us. He is different from the others. He has settled in well, he is an incredible goal scorer.
“He deserves to win the Ballon d’Or. I hope he will win it.”
The 32-year-old has made an instant impact since making a £100million switch to Italy from Real Madrid in the summer.
Juve are unbeaten in Serie A this season and Ronaldo is the league’s second-top scorer with eight strikes in his 12 appearances so far.
However, he faces stiff competition for the Ballon d’Or this year, with the likes of Luka Modric and France’s World Cup winners expected to challenge.
It was recently suggested that Modric has already won the award after French journalist Eric Mamruth claimed the details of the winner had been leaked.
He said the Croatian is set to be crowned ahead of second-place Raphael Varane and Kylian Mbappe in third.
Modric has already been crowned as FIFA’s best player of the year.
The 33-year-old starred as Real Madrid won a third Champions League title in a row and captained Croatia to the World Cup final in Russia.
