“Spanner Boy” Kalonzo All Smiles as His Bromace With Uhuru Kenyatta Yields Fruits

Kalonzo Musyoka, a man we all thought was now insignificant and done with is slowly but steadily bouncing back. The former Vice President was clearly down but not out.

It seems like his decision to be President Uhuru Kenyatta’s errand boy or as many say “mtu wa mkono” is yielding fruits so early. Just a few days after his declaration, Mr. Musyoka seem to have already landed a new job as a special peace envoy if pictures doing rounds the Internet are anything to go by.

Kalonzo was spotted accompanying Foreign Affairs Cabinet Secretary Ambassador Monica Juma in South Sudan on Monday 12th November.

His bucket of blessings got even more full after the government decided to restore his earlier withdrawn security detail.

Kalonzo’s security team was withdrawn during the heated presidential election last year, when the Raila Odinga-led National Super Alliance (Nasa) was locked in a brutal fight for the State House job with President Kenyatta’s Jubilee.

As if to reward Kalonzo for his allegiance, the government has moved with speed and restored his security detail at his three homes.

Mr Musyoka’s handlers Monday confirmed that the former vice-president now has General Service Unit officers guarding his Karen home, and administration police officers guarding his Yatta and Tseikuru rural homes.

Mr Musyoka also received an enhanced mobile security detail, including a car with a siren to clear traffic.

President Uhuru Kenyatta seem to be walking the talk. He on Friday last week hinted that he would ensure Kalonzo secures a job as a Peace envoy.

“I am grateful that Raila has been given a job by AU. He will be able to contribute here and don’t you think he will bring some money to Kenya? My brother Kalonzo should (also) help us to bring the country together and foster peace for all Kenyans and even internationally. Every leader has something to contribute … all we need is to give each other space and respect one another!” President Kenyatta said.

As if to confirm his acceptance of the proposed new Job, Kalonzo confirmed his unending Loyalty to President Kenyatta. He said that he did not want anybody to come between him and President Kenyatta and in the process confirmed to be Uhuru’s right hand man.

“From today, in front of this crowd and before the clergy, I want to ask that no one come between President Kenyatta and me. Let no one come between my children and the President’s children. From today, I am President Kenyatta’s right-hand man, ” the Wiper leader told mourners.

His statement has however continued to annoy a number of his supporters and leaders from Ukambani led by Johnstone Muthama, who are piling pressure on him to clarify what he meant.
