Revealed: Why City’s boss Guardiola shouted at Sterling after derby win

What coach wins a Derby ,then shouts at his players? Well Pep Guardiola revealed the reason behind his on-field rant at forward Raheem Sterling after Manchester City’s 3-1 derby victory over Manchester United.

The Citizens dominated for most of the match against their fierce local rivals with David Silva and Sergio Aguero giving them a solid lead before Anthony Martial’s penalty gave United a glimmer of hope.

However, Ilkay Gundogan sealed the points and bragging rights for City late on as they regained top spot in the Premier League.

Despite the victory, manager Guardiola stormed over to Sterling at the final whistle after taking exception to his showboating.

With the game wrapped up, Sterling made a number of step-overs in a stationary position as the seconds ticked down – but it didn’t go down well with his boss.

“He made some movements with his legs that we could avoid,” Guardiola said.

“He’s young and will learn.”

However, Guardiola was pleased with the overall performance of his side as they went 12 points ahead of Jose Mourinho’s men.

“I like a lot when he played but the best way to defend a result is to keep the ball,” Guardiola added.

“We spoke at half-time that we could play better and we were much better with the goal from Aguero after five minutes of the half.

“It was difficult, they defended so deep and they are aggressive, they follow man to man.

“But after 2-1 we reacted well, we didn’t concede and step by step we regained our game.”
