The scarcity of matatu is not ending any time soon. People have to prepare to walk for many more days as the government fastens the belt on the fight against rogue matatus operating in our roads.

This time round the government is seemingly not hesitating and they are not going to be waved by the constant cries by the people. They are not showing mercy.

The Inspector General of Police and the Interior Cabinet Secretary Fred Matiang’i have come up to warn those vehicles which are not complying the rules to prepare for a tough face-off.

According to the new Michuki rules all vehicles operating in the city and all over the country should abide by the new rules failure to which it will attract heavy penalties.

All vehicles should be fitted with safety belts which should be wore by all passengers. Failure to which it attracts a fine of ksh. 10,000 for every seat that lacks a seat-belt.

The vehicles should have a yellow line running through the car indicating the sacco and the number of passengers the car should carry. The driver and the tout should all wear the stipulated uniforms.

The Motorists and even personal vehicles operating different routes have tough rules that they should follow , failure to which attracts heavy penalties of cash amount.

The crack down was officially launched today which is intensive and targets all vehicles on the road. Most matatus have kept off the road because the heavy fines they can’t afford to pay.

The crack down is going to continue country wide until all rogue matatus are off the road. This aimed at reducing the number of accidents in the country.
