Is it that our football federation never learn? After CAF cancelled harambee stars’ African Cup of Nations Qualifier match against Sierra Leone, Football Kenya Federation has now ruled out any possible friendlies for the national team.
A number of football lovers felt that since the AFCON qualifier has been called off, it would be proper for the team to engage in a friendly match that will help the team improve even more and help the coach Sebastien Migne to monitor his charges.
FKF President Nick Mwendwa has now revealed that it will not be possible to organize for a friendly at a short notice.
“It will not be possible to schedule a friendly now because most of the teams have already planned for this weekend, so getting a team to play against us will not be easy. I would have loved to play a friendly so us to keep our team busy but it cannot happen.”
Mwendwa however, says Kenyans will still have action on Wednesday, when the U-23 side takes on Mauritius in the qualifiers for Olympics Games. “We are now turning our focus to the U-23 team as they have a huge match coming up. We ask Kenyans to rally behind the team as they also have duty to deliver.”
Kenya and Sierra Leone were scheduled to clash in the return leg of Group F on November 18 but Caf have since moved to call off the fixture owing to the fact that Sierra Leone are still suspended by Fifa.
