Arsenal boss Unai Emery has revealed that Danny Welbeck suffered a broken right ankle.
The forward underwent surgery and Emery fears the injury is big and he might be sidelined for a considerable length of the period.
The former Manchester United star suffered the injury during the Europa League match against Sporting Lisbon at home.
“Danny Welbeck’s injury is a big injury. We spoke with him yesterday and today. We support him with our personal relationship between the player and the staff. I think he is not going to be with us for a long time.” Emery said.
The manager did not reveal the exact time the England man will actually be ready for action saying that that is upon the doctors to reveal.
“I think it’s better the doctor says to you. It’s a big injury, but the doctor can say better than me,” he added.
