Do you anticipate to see Conje back on the throne of boxing again? Perhaps you will as Governor Mike Sonko has taken to facebook today to reveal he visited boxing champion Conjestina Achieng at the rehabilitation and found out that she is making positive steps towards recovery.

Before she could be transported for treatment there was an hour-long drama trying to convince Conje to leave home for Nairobi. She said that more than once she had been duped that she is being taken for treatment only to be abandoned at Mathari Mental Hospital.

It took Winnie Augo Foundation Director Winnie Ogola and her Oryflame counterpart Shamim Chepkemoi to convince her the Nairobi journey was good for her. At the home, her mother Gertrude Auma was lost for words: “My hope has been to see my daughter regain her lost glory. I have done all I could,” she said.

 

Some facebook users were surprised that conjestina is recovering so fast and wished her all the best in recovering the Conjestina we used to know.

It was a day of high drama and blessings as well-wishers scrambled for ailing boxer Conjestina Achieng in yet another attempt to rehabilitate her.

Nairobi Governor Mike Sonko’s Rescue Team had to face off with comedian Vincent Mutua, aka Chipukeezy, over the ex-boxing star whose video of her wasted self went viral on social media last week.

 

The set of well-wishers had landed in Kisumu in an umpteenth effort to rescue Conje from relapsed drug abuse. They clashed at the airport as Sonko’s group was leaving with Conje, but Chupukeezy insisted he was the one to fly with her.

A clip of an improving Conjestina was shared on a past Wednesday after a visit by Nairobi county sports management board led by former MCA Hashim Kamau.

Conjestina, in the clip from the hospital, said she was thankful to the governor for catering for her bills and taking care of her.She also spoke of a plan to start a foundation that will help in training young girls.

“It’s my dream to ensure that I have a foundation that will see girls fight and help them to stay fit,” she said.

Hashim said they will let her use the City Stadium gym for the time being.
