Mugo Kibati replaces french CEO Aldo Mareuse at Telkom Kenya

The second largest telecommunication company Telkom Kenya has finally appointed an african not only an African but a Kenyan as the chief Executive Officer to head its operations.

Former Vision 2030 CEO  Mugo Kibati has been appointed as the Telkom Kenya CEO.

Mr Kibati wi8ll be taking over from Mr Aldo Mareuse who is  moving on to pursue other interests having led the company from mid-2016.

Before joining Telkojm Mugo wqas the immediate CEO Samlam Kenya PLC and and also the founding Director General of Kenya’s Vision 2030 Secretariat. He has also served as Group Managing Director and CEO at East African Cables PLC.He brings in a whole lot of experience in the corporate world,but the big question is, will Mugo Kibati work to beat the giant telecommunication  Safaricom company to emerge the best?

 

Well only time will tell.

His appointment was announced by the board Chairman Mr.Eddy Njoroge.

“The Board is very grateful to Aldo for his leadership of the company over the last three years. Notable milestones achieved during his tenure include the expansion of the company’s network by over 50%, successful rebranding of the company to Telkom and rolling out of a 4G network, resulting in the company becoming the data operator of choice in the market. We wish him the very best in his future endeavours,” said Mr Njoroge.

Mr Kibati is a qualified Electrical Engineer and holds a Bachelors degree in Technology (Electrical Engineering) from Moi University (Kenya), a Master of Science Degree from the Massachusetts Institute of Technology (USA) and a Master of Business Administration Degree from George Washington University (USA).

He started his career as an Electrical Engineer at Bamburi Cement (LafargeHolcim) in Kenya and also worked as a Market Development Manager at Lucent Technologies in USA.

He is the current chair of the Board of Directors at Lake Turkana Wind Power Limited.

Mugo Kibati said he was delighted to be joining Telkom at a critical moment of its transformation.

“I look forward to working closely with the Staff, Board, Shareholders and all the Company’s Partners to get Telkom to the next level of its development in the near future,” said Kibati.
