In this Weekend, Busy Nairobi Road to be Closed!

Ngong Road will be closed over the weekend between Ole Odume Road and Makini Road. The interruption comes due to this year’s Safari Sevens that will begin on Friday at the RFUEA grounds.

Motorists arriving from Adams Arcade will either use Ole Odume on to Riara Road or Joseph Kang’ethe Road on to Kibera Station Road.

Those coming from the Dagoretti side be redirected to Kibera Station Road or Makindi Road at Swedish school junction on Riara Road.

The area between Telkom and Impala Club will be left for fans on foot and emergency services. No parking will be allowed at these areas, a statement by the event’s management stated.

Security for those attending the event was also noted to have been beefed up with Kenya Police deploying officers from different branches.

Ngong Road is under construction as the second phase of dualling the road kicked off in March 2018.

The 3-kilometre road project that runs from Prestige Plaza to Dagoretti Corner was in January awarded to a Japanese Company which undertook the first phase of the development.

The project is expected to be completed in two years at a cost of Ksh2.3 billion, which has been granted by the Japanese government.

Construction of the first phase of the Ngong Road dualling project, which is also funded by Japan, has just been completed at a cost of Ksh1.3 billion.
