IG Boinnet explains why graffiti on city matatus have been banned

Michuki rules came back, and did you know that matatu graphics are part of what the rules condemn? Kenyans are yet again set to miss the lovely graffiti that are displayed on most of the city matatus.

Rongai residential area in Nairobi is the leading in ‘hot’ matatus’ commonly known as nganya. However, the residents might soon embark on using the oldly Ongata line sacco after the government insisted that Michuki rules are here to stay.

While appearing on a talk show with Citizen TV’s Jeff Koinange on a show dubbed JKL LIVE, Inspector General of Police Joseph Boinnet reiterated that the rules are there, they have been there and no one had suspended them.

Jeff asked Boinnet the reason as to why he wanted to ban matatu graffiti, which Jeff cited that was promoting art and culture, Boinnet noted that he celebrates our culture and  love art, but not one that celebrate gangsters or violence.

 

He further noted that Loud music and modified lights on cars are illegal.

The IG further cited that come Friday November 9, 2018, they will be making a major announcement. Which announcement do you think is this? Well, let us wait for tomorrow and see.

He however maintained that all  motorists need to be on the right side of the law.

Boinnet added that the days of driving recklessly are over. He noted that  this time round they were going to be very tough.
