What Makes the Seemingly Unbeatable Ruto Standout?

William Ruto, a former chicken seller now causing jitters everywhere he goes. This is a name that a good section of Kenyan Politicians don’t want to hear mentioned near them. Reason? because they know he is the only great threat in the 2022 Presidential race.

Many view his as the country’s cleverest and most organized leader. He is a man that knows how to turn every seemingly bad situation into his favour. See how he has made the handshake look like a great blessing to him after many believed that it was meant to finish him politically.

According to former political advisor to Raila Odinga, Salim Lone, William Ruto can take the country to the next level.

“Ruto is just about Kenya’s cleverest, most organized leader. Look at this (Western leaders) line-up and Coast recently. Mega corruption is not a handicap but an essential strength in our system,” Lone tweeted.

He said the country had many great leaders who were not able to ascend to the presidency adding that a win was possible even in Kenya’s current ‘mess’.

“Yes, Luhyas have had great leaders – like 42 of our other nations which have not provided a president. Nor did Kikuyu, Kalenjin leaders like Kaggia, JM, Seroney succeed. We must work harder, make progressive cross-national alliances,” he said.

Since the handshakeke, speculation has been rife over Ruto’s fate and the 2022 succession.

The DP’s allies have been watching the developing close ties between Uhuru and Raila with deep suspicion.

On the other hand, Ruto is slowly but sure making inroads to the Opposition’s once declared Strongholds. He was this week in Raila Odinga’s backyards of Migori and Homa bay where he was given a warm reception despite the fact that local leaders snubbed his meetings.

The politicians led by Suba South MP John Mbadi and his Suna East counterpart Junet Mohamed said Ruto was exploiting the tranquility created by the handshake pact to further his political agenda.

Ruto has already made a huge following from Western Kenya with a section of Luhya leaders formally backing his 2022 bid.

The more than 15 MPs said Ruto’s past performance in the Ministries of Higher Education and Agriculture was testimony enough that he can take Kenya to the next level.

In addition, they said the Deputy President was known for initiating development projects throughout the country.

According to Mp Malulu Injendi, (Malava) Western region can no longer afford to be divided and continue suffering in the political cold.

“This time around, we have to get it right by being at the centre of the formation of the next government. And the surest route to that is supporting the Deputy President. That way we would develop,” he said.

Ruto is already a smiling man as the future looks bright. He has termed those opposing his bid as mere noisemakers. If everything goes according to plan, the man from Sugoi will surely be enjoying his stay in Statehouse come 2022.
