How drug barons ferry drugs outside Kenya

As much as security agents try to fight drug trafficking in the country, Make up kits might have just turned to be dangerous.

One can just assume that they only contain make up, but surprisingly, the kits are also used to ferry the drugs.

Marijuana, Heroin, Cocaine among other hard drugs remains illegal in Kenya but barons grow rich everyday by ferrying them outside the country.

On Tuesday afternoon, Narcotics (Heroin and methamphetamine) worth millions of shillings, were found concealed in a carton box containing Makeup Kits and destined for Newzealand and China was  confiscated by Detectives from the Directorate of Criminal Investigations.

Investigations into the incident have already commenced so as to nab those involved.

Last month, drug barons, the Akasha brothers who had been nabbed in Mombasa were prosecuted in the United States and they were found guilty of drug trafficking.

There case however had already been started in a Mombasa High Court before it was later mover to USA where they were charged.

Reports have had it that Politicians are among the main obstacles in the fight to stop heroin trafficking.

According to a European Union-funded report released last month powerful politicians are emerging as lead traffickers of heroin.

No names were given by the researchers who indicated that they interviewed several sources including senior Kenya Defence Forces officers and a veteran seafarer last September for the report.

The report indicates that an estimated 55,000 Kenyans are currently hooked to the drug in Kenya, compared to Tanzania’s 32,000.

The number grows daily as efforts to curb the issue on most occasions bare no fruits. Even as the DCI say that investigations have been launched to nab the ones behind the yesterday’s incident, do you think it will bare any fruits?
