Awendo Member of Parliament Walter Owino has said that ODM MPs and MCAs did not attend Deputy President William Ruto’s meeting in Nyanza on Monday because they received invitation message late on Sunday night. Owino, a member of the orange party, said he and his colleagues got official invitation on DP’s visit to the region on Sunday night when most of them had already scheduled for Monday programmes.

“I had travelled from the constituency after my weekend activities. It was not easy to make a return trip within such a short notice,” Owino said.  Ruto’s visit in Odinga’s backyard faced a backlash as most of the elected leaders kept off, and according Owino’s revelations, they did not want to attend the meeting they were not invited.

He told off the leaders warning him not to set foot in Luoland and that they cannot stop him from working with the former Prime Minister. “I am paid a salary as Deputy President of Kenya and my job entails visiting all areas, including Migori. If Agwambo is already working with us, who are you to tell me not to come to Migori?” said Ruto.
