We all want to  a break a certain record at some point, and one Kenyan woman who was left to die in a forest as a child could receive a Guinness World Record after her family applied for the award.

Ms Esther Gichuku Nguru’s family claim that she is the oldest person alive at 133 years of age. The current record is held by Italian Emma Morano who is 119 years old.

Gichuku, who hails from Embu County, supposedly narrates tales of how she was left in the forest to die when she fell ill as a young girl.

The family claims that recollection of such incidences are an indication of the culture she was brought up in.

Her 78-year-old son, Elijah Kabau, cited data collected by the Kenya National Bureau of Statistics (KNBS) in 1991 in which Ms Gichuku was quoted to be 106 years old.

“They used the occurrences to reach this conclusion. Since then, I have religiously added one year to her age and I have come up with 133,” he told Daily Nation.

Should the Guinness Book of World Records admit Ms Gichuku, she will have beaten the all-time longest human lifespan record which was held by Frenchwoman Jeanne Calment who died at the age of 122.

The family further elaborated that Ms Gichuku’s husband, Isaac Nguru died at the age of 50 while her first born son recently died at 99.

All the best to her and may she live long enough.
