Raila, Peter Kenneth Land at Goodison Park Ahead of Gor’s tie Against Everton

Gor Mahia’s popularity keeps growing as the days go by. The team that has been credited with much success in East an Central Africa is currently in Liverpool as preparations for their clash against Everton Fc hits top gear.

The team is expected to play Everton FC tomorrow as from 10 pm Kenyan time.

Former Prime Minister Raila Odinga who is also Gor Mahia patron will be joining the team in Liverpool today.

Odinga, who is a staunch football fan and has been supporting the club for so many years will be landing in Manchester at 11.20am (2.20pm Kenyan time).

As confirmed by SportPesa Assistant Manager of Partnerships Liz Muragu, the former PM will be accompanied by SportPesa CEO Ronald Karuri and Permanent Secretary Kirimi Kaberia and former Football Kenya Federation and seasoned politician Peter Kenneth.

“The former Prime Minister, SportPesa CEO Ronald Karauri, PS Kirimi Kaberia and Peter Kenneth will be landing at Manchester Airport at exactly 11.20am today,” Muragu told the official Gor Mahia website in Liverpool.

“They will be part of fans who will be watching tommorow’s friendly match between Gor Mahia and Everton at Goodison Park,” she added.

Gor Mahia have been training at Finch Farm (Everton’s training ground) for three days now in readiness for the much awaited duel.

Gor Mahia players are surely enjoying their stay at Liverpool if the photos doing rounds in the internet are anything to go by. Despite being visitors and in fact the opposing side, Gor Mahia are being treated like bosses. The team has been showered with utmost respect  and kindness.

Gor Mahia players were allocated a modern green bus that helps them move around Liverpool. It is the bus that actually took them to the USM Finch Farm training ground.

The team lauded the training ground with the head coaches wishing that the same facilities would have been made available in Kenya.

“This is absolutely amazing. Look at that grass, I mean if we had at least two of these back home, we would be unbeatable,” Gor Mahia FC assistant coach Zedekiah Otieno muttered.

His senior, Dylan Kerr joined in the conversation and said: “The quality of the pitch is amazing and seeing all these kids out to play on a Saturday morning brings joy to my heart.”

Gor Mahia players have also had a chance to undertake a medical with the experienced medical staff at Everton.

Gor Mahia, commonly referred to as K’Ogalo booked a second date with Everton after winning the Super Cup following a 2-0 victory over Simba SC in June.

The victory over the Tanzanian side came with a free ticket to Goodison Park to face Everton.

Gor Mahia however lost 2-1 to Everton in July 2017, during another friendly played in Tanzania.
