ODM Leaders Embarrass DP Ruto and Obado in Migori

Deputy President William Ruto’s visit to Migori was not going to be taken lightly by leaders from Raila Odinga’s party, ODM. The announcement of the visit alone had already sent jitters among the opposition bigwigs.

Details have now emerged of how ODM instructed it’s legislators not to attend the deputy President’s event. Well, Migori governor Okoth Obado is a member of the Orange Democratic Party but has not be seeing eye to eye with the party’s leadership especially after the Migori Senatorial by-elections and his murder case at the high court.

Migori residents and their Governor might have warmly welcomed DP Ruto but their leaders from the ODM party led by Senator Ochillo Ayacko were no where close to Ruto’s events.

“We want those trying to bring politics into the development agenda to stop it,” said John Odera, a resident from Migori.

“We are happy that the DP is coming to visit us. We are happy because the road that he will be coming to commission will help us,’ he added.

It will be remembered that Governor Obado openly opposed ODM’s candidate Ochillo Ayacko. In fact, if not for the fact that Obado was a guest of the state at Industrial Area Remand, ODM would have had a rough day in Migori since Obado is known to tackle thinhs head on.

ODM legislators from Luo Nyanza have already made it crystal clear that they do not fancy a William Ruto Presidency as they still believe that Raila Odinga will be on the ballot come 2022.

Sections of the leaders from the region are even fronting Gideon Moi to be Raila’s running mate. Gideon was in Homa bay county sometime back an was given a warm reception from leaders from the region led by Gladys Wanga.

Gladys Wanga said the handshake deal between President Uhuru Kenyatta and Raila is an indication the latter is a reputable leader who means well for the country.

She said they will support Gideon in his political endeavours.

“We want Gideon to work together with Mr Odinga and take this country forward. We are humbled with his humility. He has all the qualities of a good leader,” said Wanga.

Wanga continued her praises on Gideon Moi terming him a man that can champion for development in the country.

Ruto was today hosted by Obado who could be seen to be in high spirits as he transversed Migori county alongside DP Ruto.

The two leaders first attended service At Maranatha Faith Assemblies in Suna West.

Ruto and Obado later Commissioned the Masara – Suna- Kehancha and Awendo- Mariwa – Oyani roads, Nyabisawa, Migori County, totalling 67.5 kilometres.

Do you think the ODM legislators were right in snubbing the Deputy President?
