If you thought Cristiano Ronaldo’s sculpture was bad, take a look at Mohamed Salah’s sculpture that was unveiled in Egypt today.
What really inspires these sculptors anyway?
The 26-year-old Mo Salah, broke the Premier League goal-scoring record last season when he scored 32 goals in his debut campaign. Salah won the Professional Footballers’ Association Player of the year award and was nominated for the FIFA Best Men’s Award earlier this year.
This inspired a young Egyptian sculptor, Mai Abdel Allah to sculpture Salah in his trademark celebration pose with arms aloft to the crowd.
Whileย Mai Abdel Allah might have had the footballer’s best interests at heart, Netizens we’re quite impressed by her work. Let’s just say that Mo Salah’s sculpture, just like Ronaldo’s was, urrm… different!

Let’s admit it, the internet streets are rough and forgiving, I’d hate to be the sculptor at this moment in time. Poor lady, she was probably just trying to pay homage to the heroic footballer.
This is a repeat of Cristiano Ronaldo’s sculpture which was done by Emanuel Santos received a lot of criticism from fans across the world.
Mr Santos said that he was encouraged to create Ronaldo’s sculpture because he was a huge fan of the Real Madrid striker and felt that he had a connection with the player.
Ronaldo’s statue wasย criticized after being put on display at the Madeira Airportย which led the sculptor Emanuel Santos, back to the drawing board and create another more realistic design that would replace the original unpopular one.
However, Mr. Santos hit back at his critics sating that it sculpturing isn’t as simple as it may seem.
“This is a matter of taste, so it is not as simple as it seems. What matters is the impact that this work generated,” he said.
Willย Mai Abdel Allah need to go back to the drawing board and create a more realistic representation of Mo Salah?
