Love is a beautiful thing until it knocks you down. As well regrets is human nature as we interact with various personalities and develop new ways of thinking due to pain or our hidden ambitions that are sometimes driven with malice out of the experiences that could change us.

Sylviah Wambui hung herself in the wrong hook as she was today arraigned at the Engineer Law Courts in Nyandarua County for allegedly forging documents to claim ownership of a multi-million hotel owned by her ex fiancé.

The 28-year-old woman however did not take plea  before Engineer Resident Magistrate Georgina Opakasi as the prosecution asked for more time to complete its investigations.

Wambui is accused of forging share transfer documents and minutes of a board of directors meeting with a resolution that her partners resigned from their positions before selling their stake in The Yard to her.

The charge sheet reads that on August 30, 2018, Wambui colluded with two others to forge the documents using the stamp of lawyer Paul Njihia Njoroge who is the complainant in the case.

According to court documents, Ms. Kimani co-owned the business with her fiance Daniel Kimani Kariuki and his niece Ruth Wanjiru Maigua. Mr. Kariuki was the majority owner with 60 percent shareholding while Wambui and Wanjiru had a 20 percent stake each.

It is alleged that Wambui and two others forged documents to show that she is the sole director at Bebadis Ltd, a company that owns the popular restaurant valued at Ksh.300 million.

An affidavit signed by Mr. Kariuki said that the hotel rakes in Ksh 18 million in a month and Wambui is now managing the business after fraudulently taking control of the establishment.

The prosecution also sought for warrants of arrest against two more suspects accused of colluding with Wambui in the fraudulent acquisition of Ridgeways Inn— The Yard located along Kiambu Road.

Kariuki and his niece Wanjiru have been fighting to re-claim their ownership at the company, a matter that has now ended up in court.

Wambui was arrested in Kinangop, Nyandarua County, where her parents live, and detained her at Engineer station.

In her ruling, the magistrate granted the prosecution’s plea and directed Wambui be detained at Engineer Police Station.The case will be heard on November 12, this year.
