Cheerful Giver Ruto Make More Women Smile in Migori

After allegedly paying 10,000 shillings for tea and Chapati in a Kibandasky during his visit in Kakamega, Deputy President William Ruto extended his art of giving to the people of Migori.

After his various developmental tours in the company of Migori Governor Okoth Obado, Ruto later took some time off his busy schedule to visit two women named Mama Achieng and Mama Zainabu of Masara, Migori County.

During his visit, Ruto launched the last mile connectivity project in their houses. This saw the two women get electricity.

The first Phase of the project is targeted at benefiting approximately 314,200 non-commercial customers (households) resulting in electricity access to an additional 1.5 million Kenyans. Financed by the Government of Kenya and African Development Bank (AfDB) at the cost of KShs.13.5 Billion, this phase will involve extension of the low voltage network to reach households located within 600 meters of a transformer.

In this regard, Kenya Power has identified 5,320 transformers located in all the 47 counties for the implementation of the first phase of the project with actual connectivity that began in September 2015.

William Ruto had earlier Commissioned the Masara – Suna- Kehancha and Awendo- Mariwa – Oyani roads, Nyabisawa, Migori County, totalling 67.5 kilometres.

“High quality roads facilitate trade; open up areas for investment; ease transportation of goods, people; enhance access to services and job opportunities and are a critical component of achieving the Big Four,” said Ruto after commissioning the road.

Ruto and Obado first attended service At Maranatha Faith Assemblies in Suna West.

The deputy President was also in Homa bay where he promised 20 million to Tom Mboya Level IV Hospital in Rusinga Island. He said th money will be used to upgrade infrastructure and buy an ambulance.

“The equipping of hospitals and expansion of facilities is meant to improve access to health services to communities, cut travel cost and huge bills to access Medicare. Keeping the population healthy will ensure a productive workforce,” Said Ruto.

Mr. Ruto got a warm welcome from Migori residents who did not want their leaders to mix Ruto’s visit with political Rhetorics.

“We want those trying to bring politics into the development agenda to stop it,” said John Odera, a resident from Migori.

“We are happy that the DP is coming to visit us. We are happy because the road that he will be coming to commission will help us,’ he added.

The people from both Migori and Homa bay indeed benefited from the DPs visit as he left them lots of goodies.

Should Ruto visit more opposition strongholds for developmental tours?
