After Going Through Turbulent Waters, Ruto Finally Makes Obado Smile

Okoth Obado, a man that seemed shaken by the recent turn of events in his life is back. From making headlines for all the bad reasons, the Migori County Chief is again in the headlines today but at least for some good reasons. Well, it depends with your view on good reasons.

The former teacher today hosted deputy President William Ruto tomorrow in Migori County. Obado could be seen to be in high spirits as he transversed Migori county alongside DP Ruto.

The two leaders first attended service At Maranatha Faith Assemblies in Suna West.

Ruto and Obado later Commissioned the Masara – Suna- Kehancha and Awendo- Mariwa – Oyani roads, Nyabisawa, Migori County, totalling 67.5 kilometres.

Political pundits have viewed Obado’s soon to be great relationship with Ruto as a slap on Mr. Odinga’s face. It will be remembered that Raila Odinga openly told Obado to carry his own cross when the governor was faced with a huge court battle because of Murder.

Well, it seems the governor has decided to walk the talk as he opted to host Mr. Odinga’s biggest obstacle to Statehouse come 2022.

Kuria West member of parliament (MP) Mathias Robi, who is a close ally of Mr Ruto earlier confirmed the DP will be in the county to commission the construction of the road as part of the Jubilee administration’s promise to develop all regions in Kenya.

“High quality roads facilitate trade; open up areas for investment; ease transportation of goods, people; enhance access to services and job opportunities and are a critical component of achieving the Big Four,’ said Ruto after commissioning the new road.

The Deuty President was earlier in Homa bay county for a developmental tour where he promised 20 million to Tom Mboya Level IV Hospital in Rusinga Island, Homa Bay County. He said th money will be used to upgrade infrastructure and buy an ambulance.

“The equipping of hospitals and expansion of facilities is meant to improve access to health services to communities, cut travel cost and huge bills to access Medicare. Keeping the population healthy will ensure a productive workforce,” Said Ruto.

Migori residents have welcomed the move by the deputy President to visit the region with many saying what they care about is development and not useless political rhetorics.

“We want those trying to bring politics into the development agenda to stop it,” said John Odera, a resident from Migori.

“We are happy that the DP is coming to visit us. We are happy because the road that he will be coming to commission will help us,’ he added.
