Kalonzo Annonces Date for His Father’s Burial

Former Vice President Kalonzo Musyoka has today thanked Kenyans for the tremendous show of solidarity they have extended to his family ever since his father passed away.

Kalonzo’s dad, Peter Musyoka Mairu died at the age of 94 at Nairobi Hospital where he was undergoing treatment. He was 94 years at the time of his death.

Various leaders have been visiting Kalonzo’s home in Karen to condole with him during this trying moment. Others have also sent condolence messages to the former VP.

Deputy President William Ruto termed the late Mairu as an affable and caring gentleman who supported the needy and contributed to worthy causes in the society.

“Mzee Peter Musyoka Mairu was an affable, caring gentleman, who supported the needy and contributed to worthy causes in society. He was cherished, adored and leaves fond memories to his loved ones,” said Ruto.

New AU High envoy for Infrastructure Raila Odinga also visited Kalonzo’s residence to condole with him.

Other leader that have visited kalonzo include Kipchumba Murkomen, Kithure Kindiki, Wavinya Ndeti, CS Rashid Echesa, Babu Owino, Mike Sonko and many others.

Kalonzo and his family have now settled for the 9th of November as the date his father will finally be laid to rest.

“It is one week today since our father Musyoka Mairu slept. As a family, we are humbled by the tremendous show of solidarity extended to us by numerous messages of sympathy; many others have come personally to condole with us. We have settled for 9th Nov. 2018 as the burial date,” said Kalonzo.
