Sad!! Veteran Athlete passes on

1968 Mexico Olympics 4x400M Gold Medalist Naftali Bon has passed on at Kapsabet referral hospital.

The former 4 by 400meters relay champ succumbed on Friday November 2 while undergoing treatment at Kapsabet Referral Hospital after a short illness.

A trailblazer in his own right, Bon was part of the Kenyan sprinting quartet that clinched silver during the 1968 Olympic games held in Mexico city.

He, alongside three others (Daniel Rudisha, Charles Asati and Munyoro Nyamau) finished second in a record time of two minutes and 59 seconds.

The team that represented Kenya won 9 medals at the time which included 3 Gold, 4 Silver and 2 Bronze.

This comes months after another athlete Nicholas Bett passed on.

Bett died in a grisly road accident along Eldoret-Kapsabet road in August this year when a car he was driving veered off the road landing in a ditch.
