Gor Mahia lands in London ahead of Everton match

Gor Mahia landed safely this evening at Heathrow airport in London ahead of their friendly match against English Premier League side Everton on Tuesday next week.

The team hit the runway at Jomo Kenyatta International Airport (Nairobi) aboard Kenya Airways flight at 9.45am to cover a distance of approximately 4,250 miles to the North West of Nairobi and touched down at exactly 6.10pm Kenyan time.

An exciting experience it was to the team as confirmed by midfielder Boniface Omondi in a direct flight of eight and a half hours to one of the world’s biggest airports – Heathrow.

“It was a great journey from Nairobi… that was one of the longest direct flights we’ve had as a team but l must say that the experience was worth it,” the midfielder told the official Gor Mahia website.

The 2018 SportPesa Premier League and Super Cup champions will then make it down to Merseyside from London by train in a journey anticipated to last for about two hours.

Through to earning their ticket to Goodison Park, Gor Mahia edged Simba of Tanzania in a tight final match played in Nakuru (Kenya) and Tuesday’s tie will mark the second meeting between the two sides.

First meeting was in Tanzania last year where Everton had to sweat to squeeze a 2-1 win I in a match that lived to its billing.
