Senior Counsel Ahmednasir comes into Jowie’s rescue

Tuesday October  30, 2018 was an ill-fated day for Joseph Irungu alias Jowie, a prime suspect in the murder of business woman Monica Nyawera Kimani.

Jowie and his co-accused, Citizen TV Journalist Jacque Maribe appeared before Judge James Wakiaga at Milimani Law Courts to know their fate in the bail applications they had earlier made.

Their lawyers tabled the reasons as to why they want their clients released on bail and almost everyone argued that their clients were not flight risks and could adhere to court orders.

It was a good day for Maribe, as her bail was granted and she finally had to give a ‘bye kiss’ to the remand life, but for Jowie, things did not go as he expected.

Did you hear how the Judge described Jowie after denying him bail? Was it an insult to him or rather adding pain on pain?

Well, Judge Wakiaga just described Jowie as ‘a male version of a slay queen’ and a ‘woman eater.’ Really?

He had to remain in detention on claims that he was a flight risk. But what does being flight risk mean?

Senior counsel Ahmednasir Abdullahi has greatly differed with Justice Wakiaga and now accuse him of denying people bail on claims that they are flight risks.

The Lawyer argues out that denying accused persons bail on the ground that they are “flight risk” is an old tired execuse.

He notes that Kenyans don’t flee their country to avoid trial. According to Lawyer Ahmednasir, with a conviction rate of less than 2%, why should any one be scared of trial in a Kenyan court.

The Lawyer has received positive comments on social media and now Kenyans are praising him for always abiding with the law and coming into rescue of Kenyans that have been intimidated in the courts.

Will the judges get convinced and grant Jowie bail in the next hearing of the case?
