Kasarani residents should prepare for a tough transport dilemma. With the rains how will this be possible? Maybe they should get trekking boats ready to hit the road.

Hannover trans which operates a long the route has just received the harsh whip of the PSV rules. The sacco has been deregistered for not following the rules passed by the PSV which guides the operation of matatus in the city.

The routes that use Hannover Trans have been also affected this include areas along Waiyaki Way, Westlands, Kikuyu.

The move by PSV has affected many matatu sacco that have been dodging the rules set for them to follow.

“Following the violation of provisions of section 5(1) of the Natioanal Transport and Safety Authority (operation of PSV) regulations 2014, the (above) seven Transport Operators were deregistered from operating with effect from September 13, 2018,” read the statement in part.

Newlot Sacco(Nairobi, Machakos, Makueni, Kitui, Kibwezi, Voi, Mombasa route) and and Peja Travellers Ltd (Jericho, Maringo, Jogoo Road and Temple Road) have also been affected by the new rule set by PSV.

Among those derigistered that travel long distances include the Molo shuttle Sacco (Nairobi, Nakuru and Kisii route), Nairobi Kiruline Services (Nairobi, Murang’a, Othaya, Nyeri, Nyahururu route) Gakanago Sacco (Nyeri, Gataragwa and Ngobit) and New Lowland Sacco (Nakuru, Marigat, Kabarne.

This follows a series of accidents on Kenyan roads that has claimed thousands of lives.

Recently, close to 60 people lost their live at Fort Ternan in a grisly accident. Later it emerged that the Homeboyz bus involved in the accident was not licensed to operate at night.

This Move is going to be a blow to many Matatu operators but it be helpful in reducing the number of accidents experienced in our roads.
