James Wakiaga set the ruling for Tuesday after hearing submissions from all parties, that included a report from probation officers amid investigations into the murder of Monica Kimani, a businesswoman whose body was found in the bath tub in her house in Kilimani, Nairobi County.

In a ruling rendered yesterday in the afternoon, Justice James Wakiaga however denied Maribe’s ex-fiancé Joseph Irungu bail citing the possibility of him absconding future court attendance and lack of a known physical address.

“The picture that emerges from the Prosecution’s evidence and the pre-bail report of the first accused (Irungu) is that he is a male version of a slay queen which for lack of better terminology I will call a woman eater,” Justice Wakiaga said.

Wakiaga’s statement was taken shockingly by many Kenyans including lawyers like Ahmed Nassir who questioned the judge’s vocabulary and stand on the case. Many have suggested that he recuse himself from the case.

Among those who commented on twitter is Mutahi Ngunyi who asked whether slay kings deserve the same constitutional rights as slay queens. In reply to the tweet a  once involved in a slay queen death scandal, Kabogo expressed his thoughts that Wakiaga should excuse himself from the case.

Juja MP William Kabogo has been questioned by police officers investigating the mysterious death of a university student whose body was found dumped on a busy city highway.

Mr Kabogo was one of the guests at a party where the post-graduate journalism student was reported to have had an angry argument with a man before her death on June 17.

Juja MP William Kabogo slapped university student Mercy Keino before she stormed out of a party and subsequently met her death,

Ms Scolastica Namwai Kamemba, Ms Keino’s friend, was the last person to see the University of Nairobi student alive on the fateful night of June 17, 2011.

Ms Kamemba reported that the MP got annoyed when Ms Keino started shouting and moving about the Wasini Luxury Homes where the party was being held and broke some glasses after taking too much wine.

He slapped her several times, stated Ms Kamemba. “Mr Kabogo started slapping her while asking who had brought her to the party. Mercy got very scared and wanted to run away but some security officers and the MP’s bodyguards grabbed her and took her to the gate,” Ms Kamemba said

She followed Ms Keino to the gate and tried to calm her down, but she ran towards Waiyaki Way in Westlands.

Ms Kamemba said the MP’s bodyguards agreed to help her bring back Ms Keino. They followed the student and found her standing in the middle of the road.

When they got back to Wasini Luxury Homes, the security guards denied them entry and they sat on the pavement.

Ms Kamemba said she then tried to ask Ms Keino for her phone to call her boyfriend, but she shoved her aside and took off. And that was the last time she saw her friend alive.

Asked if she knew what killed her friend, Ms Kamemba said that they were told by a doctor who did the post-mortem examination that a vehicle ran over her.

Do you think Kabogo is on Jowie’s side in the trial or it was just a sincere fight for the law?
