Siku za mwizi!! Senior Police officer arrested over bribe

 

Have you ever been in the hands of corrupt police officers who asks for “Chai”before you are set free over peaty offense?

The Ethics and Anti Corruption Commission (EACC) officers have  arrested a senior police officer in Bungoma County over suspicion of soliciting a Ksh 5000 from his client.

Nzoia Police Station OCS in Kanduyi constituency, Evans Ng’etich, was apprehended by the anti graft officers who had laid a trap after he was accused of soliciting a bribe to release a suspect.

Bungoma County Police Commander, Francis Sang, said the police officer had been accused of holding a suspect at the police station for longer than usual.

Sang stated that the officer had arrested the suspect on Thursday last week and held him in the police cells and on Monday had demanded a Sh 5,000 bribe.

“The OCS in chard of Nzoia Police Station is said to have arrested a suspected motorbike thief and held him in the cells from Thursday last week. He is said to have demanded a bribe in order to release the suspect,” said Sang.

Sang stated that the anti corruption sleuths had been camping in the area since Monday after they received reports that the officer was demanding a bribe.

He said it was wrong for the officer to keep any person arrested for longer hours than prescribed in the law and should have been arraigned in court to face the charges.

The officer is still held by the  anti corruption officer and he would be arraigned in court once investigations are complete.

Many police officers have been caught in bribery cases this proves the ministry of interior security is the most corrupt ministry.
