Maribe’s Journey for justice that left Jowie to carry his own cross

The gruesome murder of a Juba based business woman Monica Kimani Nyawera at her residential house in Kilimani’s Lumuria apartments placed Joseph Irungu alias Jowie at the centre of the murder scene.

This saw his arrest, being the prime suspect in the case, and was first arraigned in  Kiambu Law Court last month.

However, his arrest saw the arrest of his fiance, Citizen TV journalist Jacque Maribe after details emerged that Irungu used her Toyota allion vehicle to drive to the murder scene.

Their case, which was later forwarded to Lady Justice Jessie Lessit saw their release on bail a hard task.

Lessit consistently denied the duo bail and always recommended for their detention. She later withdrew herself from the case and Judge James Wakiaga took over.

Maribe filed several bail applications at the court seeking her release on bail, which she has severally been denied.

Her close allies among them top Kenyan politicians have always stood with her in prayers and guess what, the prayers were finally answered!

She had been advised to disown Jowie and deny any involvement in Monica’s murder and the moment she did, her employer, Royal Media Services, came in for her.

The company filed a petition at the court, demanding for the release of their employee citing that she was not a flight risk.

On appearing in Court on Tuesday October 30, 2018 as it had been directed for their bail hearing and ruling, Maribe was granted a Sh 2 million bail, and now we have her back like she had never gone!

However, her fiance Jowie was denied bail, but was directed to seek treatment from Kenyatta National Hospital following his wound after he was allegedly shot in what the court believes was an attempted murder.

Is he just carrying his own cross? Well, the court maintained that Irungu has been well identified on social media as being familiar with weapons, and still, he is a flight risk!

OMG! The judge just described him as a male version of a slay queen and a woman eater!

His efforts to convince the judge that he wont fly outside the country, and would surrender his travelling documents to the police bore no fruits.

Flight risk? Yes, a flight risk indeed! But do you think justice for Monica Kimani is drawing any near?
