Justice for the Dead! Detectives make another breakthrough in Sharon’s murder

While trying to ensure justice is served, Detectives have made another breakthrough in the hunt for the killers of slain Rongo university student Sharon Otieno and her unborn baby following the arrest of another key suspect.
The suspect who was  identified as Grado Kithine Ocholla was arrested on Friday and detectives believe he might have taken part in the killing of Sharon Otieno.

Lead investigator Clement Mwangi, from the Homicide Unit of the Directorate of Criminal Investigations (DCI), told Kiambu Law Court on Monday that Mr Ocholla’s vehicle was used to kidnap Ms Otieno and Nation journalist Barrack Oduor from Migori town just hours before the murder.

According to detectives, Mr. Ochola is a Migori County Government employee and has been adversely mentioned by witnesses for having been involved in the kidnap of late Sharon.

“Investigations have linked the respondent to the murder of Sharon Otieno whose body was found at Owade bridge in Oyugis,” said Mwangi.

Mwangi told the Kiambu magistrate on Monday that Mr Ocholla would interfere with investigations if released since he is well known to one of those charged with the murder. He was detained for ten days pending further investigations.

Other key suspects in the murder of Sharon are Migori County Governor Okoth Obado, his Personal Assistant Michael Oyamo and Migori County clerk Caspar Obiero whose case is pending at Millimani Law Courts.

Obado was released on October 24, on a Sh5 million bond last week for lack of enough evidence. His case will be first be mentioned February 2019.

Obado was further warned against making any contact with the family of the late Sharon Otieno, not to step into Homa Bay county and to stay away 20 kilometres from its borders.

Oyamo is a PA to the governor while Obiero is a clerk working for Migori County government.

They will remain in custody until May 2019 when the next hearing will take place.

Obado was arrested on September 21st after detectives linked him to the murder of Rongo University student Sharon Otieno.

We are all hoping for closure.
