In a research by Canada’s International Development Research Center (IDRC) titled “Unlocking the Poverty Penalty and Up-scaling the Respect for Rights in Informal Settlements in Kenya” it showed that cartels run the economy of most of the informal settlements in Nairobi.
The question is why is the Nairobi website not working as aid by some citizen? Are the cartels infiltrating the system ?
The Nairobi county government’s website is said to be unreachable for two days now after its servers malfunctioned.
City residents seeking information on services and to also apply for tenders could not reach the address www.nairobi.go.ke.
The website is also said to be frequently experiencing technical hitches throughout the last few months that render it unavailable. A quick search online show complains dating back from April.
A resident seeking information on recently advertised tenders was the first to raise concern on Twitter on Monday.

In September, there were numerous complaints after the website went down only to come back to service several days after the expiry dates for most of the lucrative tenders
