MP Simba Arati to run for gubernatorial seat

Dagoretti North Member of parliament Simba Arati has finally declared to run for the gubernatorial seat in 2022.

He however the MP was’nt sure where he will race for the seat in the coming election.

“It is here in Nairobi that I have done a lot for the people. I have a good understanding of how politics is played in Nairobi. In 2022, be it Nairobi or Kisii, I shall be the governor but the decision will be made at that time,” held Simba Arati.

During an interview the MP opened on his marital status , he admitted that he married an Asian woman .

Arati stated that his wife has nothing to do with his leadership however said that  was a home affair and it did not affect his ability to lead his constituents.

“I married from Asia but these are private family matters. Whether my wife is from Thailand, China, Europe or wherever, it has not affected my ability to lead and deliver for the people. Obama’s father was a Kenyan and that did not stop him from being the US President,” stated Arati.

He said that those disqualifying him from a leadership role especially within the Abagusii community should know that he did not have to marry from his community so as to be considered a leader.

He went on to state that the several incidences critics have disqualified him as the spokesperson of the Abagusii community did not matter, saying it is not mandatory that he marries one of their own for him to fit in the leadership role.

“I was confirmed as the official spokesperson for my community. I will continue leading the people and will be the voice of my people in Nairobi, Kisii, Nyamira or wherever they are, even those living abroad. That means we will always discuss and will tell the people how we can move forward as a united front,”  insisted Arati.

Early this year, a section of youth leaders led by Beavon Magare has backed Arati for the big seat after he was formerly crowned as Gusii spokesman.

Recently MP Janet Onge’ra also said, MP Arati is fit to take over from Governor James Ongwae in 2022.

Mr. Arati has come out as one of strongest contestant despite his affiliation with Nairobi politics even as the race takes shape.

Speaking in Bobasi, Ms. Ong’era insisted that Ongwae’s legacy will be cemented should Arati takeover.

“I have looked at him closely and I can assure you that Arati is the good bet for us.

However MP Arati i still playing his cards since he is undecided where to run for the gubernatorial seat between Nairobi and Kisii .
