Tottenham host Manchester City at Wembley with Dele Alli back in contention for a starting spot on Monday night.
The England international has missed a month of action with a hamstring problem but is set to be part of the squad to face City.Alli may not be risked to start the game but is likely to see some game time from the bench to build his match fitness.Tottenham boss Mauricio Pochettino confirmed his star midfielder is close to a comeback ahead of the game.
He said: “Yes, I think it’s good news but we need to be careful because he was re-injured against Watford after his first injury.
“Now we need to be careful. We are happy that he started today with the group.
“Yes, sure we hope he will be available for Monday but not sure if we’re going to put him in the squad or not.”
Reports over the last couple of days suggest Alli will indeed be part of the squad, though the game will come too soon for Danny Rose.
The left-back has struggled with a groin injury and could be sidelined for another week.
Erik Lamela could start in place of Son Heung-Min, who has look out-of-sorts in recent weeks.
Jan Vertonghen remains out until December with a hamstring issue, while forgotten man Vincent Janssen is a long-term absentee.
