This year alone, the DP has given out over 60 million is cash. It will also be remembered that he promised the Harambee Stars 50 million if they emerged victorious against Ethiopia, a fete they achieved.

Ruto is  “generous” giver. On April 6, he reportedly gave Sh.15 million to Murang’a High School. On June 9, he gave Sh.3 million to Immaculate Primary School in Nanyuki. Barely a month later, had he donated Sh.5 million to Kairuri Catholic Church in Embu.

This week, Ruto took his generosity to the good people of Embu. As part of his “Tanga Tanga” programme the DP toured the vast Embu county and initiated various development projects as he also issued cash to the Embu people.

He opened a Privamnuts EPZ Macadamia Processing Plant in Manyatta.

He was also present at the  launch of the University of Embu Endowment Fund and the opening of Prof George Magoha Library in Manyatta, Embu County.

He also attended a graduation ceremony at the Jeremiah Nyagah Technical Institute in Mbeere South, Embu County. Here, he said the government was positioning technical and vocational education in its rightful place as the key to Kenya’s development and socio-economic progress.

“The skills, knowledge, competencies gained by young men and women in these colleges will realise a workforce, which is fit for purpose and is a critical ingredient of attaining Big Four. Government has intensified training of TTI tutors, enhanced capitation to ensure quality,’ said the DP

His Visit to Embu though did not lack some light moments as the DP thanked the Embu Members of Parliament for not walking out on him even though some of them did not speak at the various functions he graced.

“I want to thank the MPs here who accepted not to make statements and did not lead a walk out from the meetings like others elsewhere. It demonstrates maturity of these leaders and the understanding that this is a university occasion and we can always discuss other matters in other occasions,” said Ruto.

It remains to be seen where the Deputy President will visit next and carry with him a bag full of goodies as he did in Embu.
