You will never walk Alone! Mo Salah’s classy message after Champions League exploits

Salah took his tally to 50 goals in all competitions with a double in the 4-0 victory over Red Star in the Champions League at Anfield on Wednesday night.

The Egyptian talisman has been more subdued this term, although he has shown signs of a resurgence and hit the winner last weekend against Huddersfield in the Premier League.

While the Reds’ famous triumvirate of Salah, Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane have faced serious questions this term, they were all on target in Europe.

And Mignolet took to Twitter to hail the Reds’ win as well as reserve special praise for Salah.

Doing so took Salah just 65 appearances, and the No.11 delighted in his impressive feat while speaking post-match.

“That’s great. I’m happy to score 50 goals for Liverpool. I’m very proud about that and I hope to keep scoring to help the team win games,” he told BT Sport.

The win against Red Star, coupled with the 2-2 draw between Paris Saint-Germain and Napoli in Group C’s other game on Wednesday, means Jürgen Klopp’s side top the pool with three matchdays now completed.

He tweeted: “Great Champions League Night! Mo “Mister 50” Salah #UCL.”

Salah himself took great delight in the win, as he said: “It was an important game.

“We knew the game was going to be tough. The most important thing was the three points.

“It’s great – I’m happy to score my 50th goal for Liverpool.

“We know how to play with each other and know our qualities.”

Roberto Firmino and Sadio Mane joined Salah in getting on the scoresheet versus the Serbian outfit – something that pleased him.

“I think we knew how to play with each other,” Salah said.

“The way we play is always different, the style, the system is always different, so today at the beginning it was a little bit tough but we know how to play with each other. We know our quality and we are happy with each other.”

Meanwhile, former Premier League striker Dion Dublin insists it would be silly to write off Salah.

He said: “With players like Salah, who can score 35-40 goals a season – if you start to write them off they can make you look stupid.

“Let’s leave him alone. He’s settling this season now and I’m pretty sure he’ll score over 20-25 easy.”

Liverpool turn their attentions back to the Premier League when they host Cardiff on Saturday and hopefully they stick to never walking alone.
