Have we become a baby killing society?

Police are investigating an incident in which the body of a 10-month-old baby was found dumped in the Meteorological Department compound in Dagorreti area, Nairobi.
The boy seems to have been strangled and hit by an object on the head.

Police say they were called and informed of the incident long after it had happened an investigations are ongoing. Kilimani police boss Michael Muchiri said the remains were taken to the mortuary.

The compound has residential houses and one main gate that is used by the tenants and visitors. Police intend to question guards who were present when the body was discovered on Wednesday afternoon. Those who saw the body said indications were that the boy was dumped there hours earlier.

“We will talk to the guards and tenants who live there as part of the probe into the incident. We don’t know the motive,” said Muchiri.

Earlier this year in June police arrested a woman suspected to have strangled her five-year-old child at Kimandi village, Inoe Ward in Kirinyaga Central Sub-County.

According to area residents, the 23-year-old single mother threw the body of the child into Rutui River after the alleged strangulation and kept silent over the matter hoping the corpse would be swept away by the flooded river.

The suspect’s relatives on failing to see the boy within the homestead on Friday, started to question the mother who allegedly replied she was equally surprised by the absence of her son.

To top it up the murder case of Maribel Kapolon and Sharon Otieno with her unborn baby is just insane to say the least. And the fact that those human beings who commit such heinous crime and go away with it is unbelievable and evil.

Such inhuman incidences that have happened make me question the societies morals because taking the life of  human being, especially a child is not a case that should be handled lightly. it means something is seriously wrong with our society at large.
