Gor’s Preparation For Everton in Top Gear

Kenyan Premier League (KPL) champions Gor Mahia have hit the ground in readiness for their upcoming clash with Everton FC at Goodison Park in Liverpool.

Gor won the right to play the Merseyside club after winning the second edition of the Super Cup with a 2-0 win over Tanzania’s Simba SC in the final at the Afraha Stadium in Nakuru, July this year.

Assistant coach Zedekiah ‘Zico’ Otieno takes charge of the side in the absence of head coach Dylan Kerr, who is already in England.

Gor Mahia coach Dylan Kerr over the weekend attended an English Premier League football match pitting Everton against Crystal Palace at the Goodison Park.

Kerr is in the United Kingdom on a fact-finding mission ahead of Gor’s much-awaited friendly match against Everton slated for November 6.

Kerr departed for England on Wednesday night. The trip is fully sponsored by betting giants Sportpesa who are the lead sponsors for Gor Mahia, Everton and Hull City.

“This will help me note their style of play, their weaknesses and strengths so that we can know how best we can tackle them,” said Kerr

He added: “I will also watch their U23 train because we never know, maybe we can face them too. It’s recommended for a coach to analyse his opponents, this is what cost us in the Confederation Cup especially in Algeria hence I couldn’t afford to miss this massive chance offered by SportPesa to watch Everton play.”

Gor Mahia’s assistant Secretary general Ronald Ngala has confirmed that all players are in camp hence confirming the importance the club is giving the everton encounter.

“It’s a historic match for us. Everton have never played any African team at their ground, and they are also taking this seriously.

“We have to do the same because it’s an opportunity to show they world we are made of, ” said Ngala.

K’Ogalo will travel to Liverpool via London on November 2, where they will link up with their coach Kerr before watching Everton’s home match against Brighton and Hove Albion on Saturday.

This will be Gor’s second match against Everton, after their July 2017 meeting in Dar es Salaam, Tanzania.
