Meet the man behind Wasafi’s President Money and Fame

Simba of Tandale ,Nasibu Abdul Juma aka Diamoand Platnumz musical journey wasn’t easy way back in 2007 he  was trying to raise money for a studio session.

He was forced to engage himself in casual works like selling second hand clothes, filling station attendant, freelancing as a photographer, and any other work in which there was a little money to be earned.

However, his brother Romy Jones who is the vice president of Wasafi was his guardian angel who elped im to raise from grass to grace.

Romy Jones, for the first time has spoken out about how he made the singer famous.

In 2009, when Diamond Platnumz wasn’t known, Jones was one of the most sought-after radio presenters in Tanzania. He worked for one of the national radio stations and used the opportunity to make Diamond’s music known to people.

Reports had it that he had differences with the station for playing too much of his brother’s songs which eventually left him with no job.

In an interview with LilOmmy, Jones said before Diamond was famous, he had zero connections and took that chance to help his brother.

He said ;”Diamond’s life was always about music but he didn’t have the connections, I used to tkehim place ,I made him famous “said Romy Jones

Adding that he is happy when his brother was finally famous.

Diamond recorded his first single in 2009 dubbed “Nenda Kamwambie”.That was the song that opened doors for him in music industry.

Diamond Platnumz Afropop and Bongo Flava vocalist received a total of fifteen awards at Tanzania Music Awards ceremonies held between 2010 and 2014. Diamond Platinumz has done collabo,s with International Artists like neyo the song Marry you.

Diamond Platinumz is the most paid, decorated and sought after artiste in Tanzania, the boy from Tandale  revealed how much he is worth , he  said he is worth a whopping KSh 405 million shillings and counting. Diamond Platnumz charges KSh370, 000 per show in his native Tanzania. When outside the Bongo nation, be ready to cough out a whooping KSh2.3 million for his services.

Diamond Platinumz has won 22 awards and 28 nominations, all coming from Channel O music awards, Tanzania’s people’s choice, Tanzania Music Awards(TMA), MAMA Awards (MTV Africa Music Awards) between 2010 to 2015 he was nominated 6 times but won just once in 2015 for BEST LIVE ACT, BET awards, The Headies, The Future awards and a host of others.

Currently he has his own recording studio Wasafi  Records which has sign up various artistes.
