Sanchez and five others to miss out in Mourinho’s 4-2-3-1 for Juventus

It’s set to be a huge night in Manchester, with Cristiano Ronaldo returning as an opponent for the first time in five years and the resumption of a classic European rivalry after a 15-year hiatus.

The Red Devils have won their last three games against the Old Lady, including a 3-0 victory at the old Stadio Delle Alpi in 2003.

But Juve are firm favourites tonight, with Ronaldo having joined a team that have won the last seven Serie A titles and reached two Champions League finals in the last four seasons.

However, Jose Mourinho will be feeling more confident following an improved performance in Saturday’s 2-2 draw at Chelsea.

Alexis Sanchez is not fully fit and won’t play after missing yesterday’s training session amid reports of a potential exit.

Jesse Lingard (groin) and Scott McTominay (knee) have also been ruled out, while Diogo Dalot, Marouane Fellaini and Phil Jones are also missing with minor issues.

Antonio Valencia has not played recently after undergoing complicated surgery on his mouth which resulted in him sitting out 10 days of training, but while he is fit again he is unlikely to play here.

Marcos Rojo is also fit again but it would be a brave move for Mourinho to give him a first start of the season against such high calibre opponents.

Manchester United’s likely line-up (4-2-3-1): De Gea; Young, Smalling, Lindelof, Shaw; Matic, Pogba; Rashford, Mata, Martial; Lukaku
