The Football Association (FA) has charged Chelsea assistant Marco Ianni coach with improper conduct in the touchline.

During the Premier League clash between Chelsea and Manchester United on Saturday, tension escalated at Stamford Bridge after Ross Barkley netted a stoppage equalizer to secure a 2-2 draw for his side.

Jose Mourinho was angered by the way Ianni, assistant to Maurizio Sarri, celebrated in front of the United bench.

The former Chelsea boss leaped from his seat and had to be restrained by the security staff. Mourinho revealed that after the game, both Sarri and Ianni apologized him with the Special One saying he now considers the matter closed.

“Chelsea coach Marco Ianni has been charged following the game against Manchester United on Saturday,” said an FA statement.

“It is alleged that his behaviour in the 96th minute constituted improper conduct.

“In relation to this incident, Jose Mourinho has been formally reminded of his responsibilities whilst both clubs have received similar official reminders in terms of the behaviour expected of their staff and players at all times whilst in the technical area.

The Portuguese won’t face further FA action relating to weekend’s game but is preparing to answer a separate charge of using abusive words towards Television camera after United defeated Newcastle 3-2.
