Manchester United blamed for Juventus weekend struggles

Juventus coach Massimiliano Allegri has blamed the UEFA Champions League fixture against Manchester United on Tuesday 23rd October for their draw against Genoa.

Juventus played out to a one all draw against Genoa at the Allianz Stadium on Saturday 20th October with stars like Paulo Dybala, Giorgio Chiellini and Filippo Bernardeschi all on the bench. Cristiano Ronaldo opened the scoring in the 18th minute with a tap-in but Daniel Bessa equalized with a bullet header in the 67th minute.

Allegri revealed that Manchester United’s forthcoming fixture played a part in their draw, “We conceded a goal from a loss of focus. We played, from a certain point of view, with our heads in Manchester.”

The Italian manager added that the draw will prompt them to pull up their socks, “We had to win. We went from frantic to sleeping and vice versa. These are situations that shouldn’t happen – they’re games in which the Scudetto can be won and lost. It was coming, we could see it from the touchline. A good ten minutes before the goal, we were already drifting out of the game.”

Manchester United face Juventus at Old Trafford in a 10 PM kick off.
