Raila Odinga celebrates Kenyan Women on Mashujaa Day

Former Prime minister and NASA leader Raila Odinga on the Saturday of Mashujaa Day took to his twitter account to send a strong message to Kenyan women in an effort to celebrate them.

In a message that was written in both English and Swahili language, Odinga urged Kenyans to use the Mashujaa Day opportunity to reflect on the heroic efforts Kenyan women have made.

He further urged Kenyans to strive together united with the singular aim of making Kenya a better place for all.

The 2018 mashujaa Day celebrations were celebrated in Kakamega County, Bukhungu stadium.

This was the first ever mashujaa celebrations to happen outside Nairobi County as well as the first time for Kakamega County to host such a great event.

Close to 200 heroes were ferried to Bukhungu stadium to mark the celebrations of all those who contributed to the independence and freedom of Kenya as a country.

The event was presided over by President Uhuru Kenyatta who was also hosting Namibian President H.E Hage Geingob in the event.

Several political leaders including Deputy President William Ruto and Cabinet Secretaries attended the fully filled Bukhungu Stadium Mashujaa Day celebrations.

The event will be moving around the country in all the 47 counties as a result of devolution.

Several artistes including the young girl Leyla Mohammad who composed the song “wimbo wa historia” performed at the event.
