Revealed: Monica Kimani was detained at JKIA over undeclared money

Details have emerged that the late Monica Kimani was briefly detained at the Jomo Kenyatta International Airport upon arrival from Juba because she was in possession of undeclared cash.

She was, however, let go after a high flying individual called senior Kenya Airports Authority (KAA) officials to secure her release.

The incident has been handled with the strictest confidentiality, with no official records showing Monica was at the airport on the material day.

Undercover police at JKIA who requested anonymity, told one of the local dailies that Monica was briefly detained by customs and immigration officers but the incident didn’t bear much significance until later when they identified her as the same woman who was brutally murdered.

Until now, Citizen TV Journalist Jacque  Maribe, 30 year old, and her fiance Joseph Irungu alias Jowie have been arrested and charged over the murder of Ms Kimani, 28.

Maribe and her fiancé,  Jowie, have hence denied killing Ms Kimani, whose body was found in the bathtub at her Lamuria Gardens apartment on September 19.

Maribe was arrested on September 29, 2018, two days after Jowie’s arrest and have since then been in police custody.

They are expected to appear in Court today Wednesday for a mention into the hearing of their release on bail application.

Maribe seeks release on bail with her latest application citing that she is not a flight risk, and that she was not at the scene of murder, neither does she know any plot behind the murder.

She also cited that she is a single mother and her 4 year child who highly depend on her might suffer if she is not released.
