Mohamed Salah reveals real ambitions following poor form

Salah has shone at Liverpool since joining the club last summer, winning the Premier League golden boot in his debut season on Merseyside.

The forward is one of three Egyptian players in the Premier League, alongside Arsenal ace Mohamed Elneny and Ramadan Sobhi of Huddersfield.

Ahmed Hegazi and Ahmed Elmohamady have both shone in England’s top tier in recent seasons though both now find themselves in the Championship.

And Salah has revealed how he wants to keep performing and being the idol of kids in Egypt looking to get into football.

“When I was young I would always watch the Premier League,” Salah told Premier League Today.

“It’s the best league in the world.

“We make it easier for the kids in Egypt to dream bigger and have a big dream now.

“They see many players play in the Premier League, seven or eight Egyptians now.

“We make them believe in themselves.”

Egypt beat Swaziland home and away in the international break with Salah netting in the first encounter.

The Liverpool star missed the second after picking up a muscle injury.

And Reds legend John Aldridge believes Jurgen Klopp may rest Salah against Huddersfield on Saturday.

“Salah though, if he is feeling the impact of an injury, then now is the time to let him sit it out and get back to 100 per cent, because Liverpool will need him,” Aldridge said.

“I’d have absolutely no concerns about [Xherdan] Shaqiri or [Daniel] Sturridge playing against the Terriers.

“You have to have trust in these players – it’s the reason they are at the club – and in the case of Shaqiri, whenever he has played, the Anfield crowd seem to like him.”

Having swept his way to 44 goals last season, the PFA Player of the Year award and the Premier League Golden Boot, much was expected of an Egyptian sensation during his second year at Anfield.

Salah has, however, found the going a little tougher in 2018-19, netting three times in 11 appearances .

The former Liverpool and United Paul midfielder Ince believes an unfortunate injury suffered in a Champions League final defeat to Real Madrid, which then saw him rushed back for international duty in Russia, has left the 26-year-old a little drained.

He feels the same can be said of France international Pogba, who has endured a testing campaign back at Old Trafford following a memorable summer in which he helped his country to global glory.
